1st Survivor Elgin Chardonnay vintage strikes Gold in Germany

Survivor’s first terroir-driven Chardonnay from cool climate Elgin vineyards has earned international acclaim with a Gold medal at the 27th Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Awards in Germany.

This prestigious recognition from Germany’s top wine competition underlines Survivor’s single-minded vision to produce terroir specific wines.

Survivor Chardonnay 2019 is the first vintage crafted from Elgin grapes and captures all the fruit concentration and fresh acidity typical of cooler vineyard sites.

“The benefits of slow ripening conditions of Elgin vineyards fit perfectly with our focus on crafting wines from the best sites that express their true sense of place and authenticity,” says winemaker Ben Snyman.

The barrel-fermented Survivor Chardonnay 2019 shows intense citrus and peach with floral undertones. It is fruity with mouth-filling richness from contact with the lees during 10 months in the barrel while retaining its freshness. The wine portrays its cool climate pedigree with crisp liveliness and a lingering finish.

Survivor Chardonnay 2019 is available at selected wine stores and can be purchased online at https://survivorwines.com/wine-shop/ for R185 a bottle
