The Koefontein Farm between Memel and Vrede in the Eastern Free State offers a perfect outdoors family or corporate vacation, just 2 hours drive from Gauteng. The farm is situated in a lush, hilly area in the Free State Drakenberg hoothills called the ‘Langberg’, with excellent group accommodations and outdoors adventure activities.
Activities offered on Koefontein include hiking trails (the Langberg Hiking Trail), horse trails, abseiling, rock climbing, caving, mtb trails and bass fishing, and many of these activities can be combined.
There are 50-60km+ of mtb trails, and almost 40 abseiling faces on the farm. You need to bring your own gear and equipment, and groups are responsible for their own safety and guides.
Koefontein can accommodate groups of up to 20 people at The Stables Camp and two self-catering cottages called Langberg Springs.
