The City of Cape Town has issued a renewed warning to residents, urging them to exercise extreme caution due to anticipated adverse weather conditions in certain communities and areas. This cautionary notice remains in effect today and throughout the week.
On Monday morning, the City reiterated its advisory and assured residents that its teams and officials were prepared to provide assistance as needed.
The South African Weather Service (Saws) had issued a warning of level 5 damaging winds, prompting the City’s proactive response.
According to the Saws advisory, the powerful winds have the potential to cause significant damage to both formal and informal housing structures, as well as electrical and communication infrastructure. Additionally, trees are at risk of being uprooted by the forceful gusts.

In their direct weather report, Saws indicated that a cold front was expected to impact the Cape provinces starting from yesterday. Consequently, residents in these areas should anticipate rainy, cold, and windy conditions. On the other hand, the remainder of the country would experience fine and cool weather during this period.
