The rideAnysberg Nature Reserve

The horsy highlight of Anysberg is the two-day trail, sleeping overnight in huts or under the stars. The ride is about three hours to Tapfontein and two hours back the next day. Look out for animals (expect anything from bat-eared fox to klipspringer and gemsbok) and beautiful plants (the area belongs to both the succulent Karoo and fynbos biome) and listen to the sounds of the Karoo (mainly insects humming loudly).

Why go

This trail is suitable for the whole family, including novice and experienced riders. Along the way your guide William Fullard points out plant and animal life, making the ride even more interesting.

“At Anysberg we rode right past groups of gemsbok and the horses didn’t even flinch”

Age limit

Children must be at least five. A maximum of six riders allowed.

Where

Anysberg lies in the Klein Karoo between Touwsriver, Laingsburg, Montagu and Ladismith. The reserve entrance is about four hours’ drive from Cape Town on the N1.
