Art Wine and Wonder: Franschhoek Creates in the Valley of Dreams

Franshoek Creates this November in the Valley of Dreams...

Franschhoek Creates 2025: Where Art, Nature, and Imagination Collide

This November, the picturesque Franschhoek Valley will once again come alive with colour, creativity, and culture as Franschhoek Creates 2025 takes over the town from 1 to 15 November. Known as the “Valley of Dreams,” Franschhoek transforms into an open-air gallery where art meets wine, nature meets imagination, and every street tells a story.

A Celebration of Art in Every Form

This much-anticipated festival celebrates South Africa’s rich artistic heritage and its ever-evolving creative spirit. Visitors can wander through a series of captivating exhibitions, inspiring talks, and hands-on workshops across the valley’s most iconic venues — each one offering its own artistic flavour.

At Everard Read Franschhoek, the festival opens with the extraordinary works of Tamlin Blake, whose innovative materials and intricate beading techniques have made her a defining voice in contemporary South African art. Then, from 15 November, the gallery unveils Lucinda Mudge’s solo show, promising bold expression and thought-provoking beauty.

Summertime at Grande Provence

Over at The Gallery at Grande Provence, Summertime brings together a vibrant mix of South Africa’s top artists across diverse media. The exhibition opens on 3 November at 11 am — complete with a welcoming glass of wine and the promise of discovery. It’s a space where creativity flourishes under the warm Cape skies, inviting art lovers to connect and celebrate the season’s energy.

Muse Gallery: Art with a View

Just a stroll away on La Provence Road, Muse Gallery offers a fresh, modern experience. Surrounded by sweeping mountain views, visitors can sip a glass of bubbles or coffee while exploring contemporary paintings, sculptures, and digital art that push creative boundaries. The setting — light-filled and serene — embodies the very essence of artistic inspiration.

La Motte Gallery: Nature Meets Artistry

La Motte Gallery weaves sustainability and beauty into the festival’s fabric. On 1 November, organic farmer and botanical alchemist Anja Taschner opens the programme with Growing Beauty Without Pesticides, a talk on regenerative planting and sustainable gardening.
The gallery also features the Die Ateljee “Rose’d” art exhibition and two captivating events with world-renowned rose specialist Ludwig Taschner — a talk on 5 November exploring the rose’s journey through time, followed by a Wildflower & Rose Floral Arranging Workshop on 6 and 7 November. Here, creativity truly blooms in harmony with nature.

The Silver Touch of Junald Sénéchal-Senekal

Adding a bold contemporary edge, Junald Sénéchal-Senekal’s powerful artworks light up Shop 10 in Franschhoek Square. His iconic Secret Silver Technique transforms light and texture into raw emotion. Exhibited alongside the likes of Picasso and Warhol, Junald’s creations transcend the visual — they pulse with feeling, leaving an impression that lingers long after you’ve left the gallery.

An Unmissable Cultural Journey

From intimate gallery spaces to open-air exhibitions, Franschhoek Creates 2025 is a celebration of creativity, connection, and community. Whether you’re a seasoned collector, a weekend wanderer, or simply someone drawn to the beauty of artistic expression, this is your invitation to experience the soul of Franschhoek like never before.

So, mark your calendar, charge your camera, and prepare to be inspired by the art, people, and stories that make this valley truly unforgettable. Event Details
