Ashton is a small village situated near the town of Robertson in the Robertson Wine Valley in the Western Cape, South Africa. The town is mainly known for its wine and fruit estates and is part of Route 62, the scenic alternative to the N2 highway on the way to the Garden Route. It lies between the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains and the Breede River Valley and forms part of the Robertson Wine Route.
The cliffs at the nearby Cogmans Kloof is a spectacular place for rock climbers to get their adrenalin going and the not so adventurous can visit the Old English Fort dating back to 1899 and the Anglo Boer War. For the energetic there are beautiful hiking trails in the foothills where the amazing floral diversity of the Cape fynbos can be experienced.
Road signs will guide you to a viewpoint where you can view the panoramic vistas surrounding the town.
