Horse riding and horse trails are very popular along the Sunshine Coast as there are so many stretches of beach where it is permitted to ride and so many nature and game reserves to ride on.
Beachcomber Horse Trails offer both beach and bush rides on well schooled, gentle endurance horses they describe as ‘bomb proof’, “lively when needed” but “happy to plod along” with inexperienced riders.
There are a number of different beach trails offered along long stretches of deserted beach and through coves.
The bush trail is through a nature reserve where you can see various species of antelope, zebra and even elephant.
A combined beach and bush day adventure is also offered, as well as multi-day horse trails along the coast from the Bushman’s River – ideal for more experienced riders who can take the opportunity to enjoy gallops along the beach and swims in the sea with their surefooted and spirited mounts at their leisure. Overnights en route are camp-outs on the beach.
The horses are Arab cross-breeds, specifically bred for their endurance, very hardy, intelligent and surefooted, and of course ‘genetically’ pre-disposed to confidently negotiating sand and dunes!
