Best Before partners with Uber Eats for on-demand delivery in Fourways trial
Discount retailer Best Before has launched a new partnership with Uber Eats, allowing customers to order discounted groceries and household essentials for on-demand delivery.
The Pilot Went Live On 10 April 2026 In Fourways, Johannesburg, With Expansion Planned If The Rollout Proves Successful.
Best Before, founded in 2017 by Mark Gordon and Alain Soriano, is known for selling discounted food, toiletries, and household goods sourced through surplus and short-dated stock. The retailer emphasises that it does not sell expired products, only items that are still safe for consumption but may be near or past their “best before” date.
The company has grown rapidly across Gauteng, with stores in Wendywood, Woodmead, Edenvale, Fourways, Northcliff, Krugersdorp, Boksburg, Pretoria East, and Centurion, after initially launching in Sandton.
Best Before has also expanded its digital footprint, introducing nationwide courier delivery earlier this year. Customers can now order online countrywide, with delivery fees typically ranging between R80 and R100, depending on the courier, and delivery times of 2–5 working days.
Under the new Uber Eats integration, Fourways customers can now access the same in-store pricing via the app. Delivery fees range between R6 and R20, depending on distance, with no additional price mark-ups on products.
Orders placed via the platform are fulfilled directly through the Fourways store as part of the controlled pilot phase.
Best Before says the Uber Eats trial marks a further step in making discounted essentials more accessible while maintaining affordability compared to traditional retailers such as Checkers and Pick n Pay.
