Sandboarding in South Africa
Dragon Dune is the longest (320m), most exciting sand dune to conquer in South Africa. This is a must for the adrenalin seeker. Nowhere else in South Africa does a dune compare with the Dragon. No rocks or bushes, just pure rush, and all this is on a private farm, 35km outside Mossel Bay….so no unwanted crowds to spoil your Olympic hurtle towards the sea. It´s an awesome setup with spectacular views over the ocean and regular sightings of whales and dolphins.
For the not SO adventurous, you can also sit-ski down the face of the dune. The Mossel Bay Company Billeon takes beginners to advanced knights to tame this magnificent beast. They cater for all ages, individuals and groups.
Surfing School
Travelers from all around the globe have been taught to surf by “Bugs Billeon” since 1995, the longest running surf school on the Garden Route! In these lessons, the students will learn the basics of surfing, paddling and standing on their own waves. You are never too young or old to learn to surf.
Situated at the Point, Inner Pool, this spot is the playground for most locals. It has a great peeling, consistent top-to-bottom wave, or hotdog wave, which means you can pull most cool maneuvers on it. Young and old thrive here, from the competitive rising stars, to the legends of Mossel Bay. Works best: 3-5ft – Pushing tide – SW winds.
