The Blou Donki Art Gallery in Clarens was established in 2007 and has since become a feature of the tiny hamlet of Clarens in the Eastern Free State Highlands.
The Gallery keeps an excellent collection of South African artworks in diverse art media, from bronze sculpture to classical fine art, contemporary fine art, ceramics, functional art and photography, and they are constantly expanding their collection from across South Africa.
In addition to the permanent collection, the Blou Donki (Blue Donkey) hosts regular exhbitions showcasing the works of South African artists.
While a visit to the delightful village of Clarens comes highly recommended, the Blou Donki’s artworks can be viewed online and they deliver to all parts of the country. Overseas deliveries can also be arranged.
Getting there: The Blou Donki is situated in Clarens Main Street in the ‘Old Widmilll’ centre.
