Bushmanskloof is a wilderness area in the Northern Cederberg that has won accolades aplenty. It is a South African Heritage site for two reasons – it is located in the Cape Floral Kingdom, protecting over 755 indigenous species of fynbos and is home to 130 Bushmen rock art sites.
Bushman’s Kloof also protects one of the largest herds of Cape Mountain Zebra in South Africa. This zebra species was once on the brink of extinction. The reserve also has huge diversity in its bird population, with an astounding 150 species.
Just 270km from Cape Town, Bushman’s Kloof offers a unique experience in nature. With 7,500 hectares of great outdoors to explore, there are a host of activities on offer in this malaria and predator free environment. Roam over wide-open spaces; explore the sculpted rocks, crystalline waterfalls and abundant flora and fauna. Fill your lungs with the purest air, feel the pulse of the natural world and go wild!
Enjoy easy hiking and biking trails, canoeing and swimming, archery and croquet, bird watching, fly fishing and star gazing, or just relaxing in this pristine, awe inspiring environment that re-connects you to nature. Help your body unwind too at the award winning spa.
The luxury accommodation is beautifully set for privacy and the gourmet menus and comprehensive wine cellar complete the picture.
Directions: Clanwilliam is 270km north of Cape Town on the N7. As you enter Clanwilliam, a petrol station is located on the left hand side. It’s a good idea to fill up here. There is no mobile reception after this point, so we ask that you please call the lodge here. We can then anticipate the time of your arrival. The number is +27 (0) 27 482 8200. The distance from Clanwilliam to the lodge gate is approximately 40km. Continue straight on the R364 towards Wupperthal and Calvinia. You will cross a bridge. Follow the tarred road for approximately 25km, past ‘Louis Leipoldt’s Grave’ and over the Pakhuis Pass. Cross a low bridge over the Brandewyns River. Continue past a sign on the left hand side to ‘Traveller’s Rest’. After travelling for 800m, the Bushmans Kloof gate will be on your right hand side. E-mail: Website.
