Carltonville is one of the richest gold-mining areas in South Africa. There are no fewer than seven gold mines in the area, and at 3,749 meters, Western Deep Levels is one of the world’s deepest mines.
The busy town has a good infrastructure to support the residents and their families involved in the mining industry. For leisure, there is the Goldfield’s West Golf Course, and if you are interested in Skydiving, Carltonville has a school where you can learn this sport, a club for flyers and options for a tandem jumps.
Close by, the Kraalkop Nature Reserve is just outside town, offering peaceful grassland wildlife, birdwatching and bow hunting.
