Takura Chadoka was born in Zimbabwe where he developed his love for art. His paintings are in a unique African style, depicting the Shona lifestyle, especially in the rural areas, where Takura grew up.
The vibrant colours of Takura’s work is immediately captivating, as the Shona people’s culture jumps to life. Takura uses a variety of media and materials to create his paintings.
After a shortage of funds stopped his studies in Harare, he joined a group of local artists in Zimbabwe in 2004, for workshops, where he developed his own style, expressing his feelings through art. In March 2006 he moved to South Africa, where he established his private studio in Pringle Bay, in 2008.
The studio is in the same building as the Bella Donna Italian Restaurant, and if he is in, you are welcome to see him at work. However, Takura does spend time away at exhibitions, so, to avoid disappointment, it is preferable to phone first and make a time.
