Champagne Sports Resort Golf Course is situated in the beautiful Champagne Valley in the Central Drakensberg region of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The setting is truly spectacular with the towering Drakensberg Mountains forming a backdrop to the vivid green valley. The resort comprises extensive conference facilities, a forty room hotel with a fully equipped gym, wellness centre and salon.
The lush golf course takes full advantage of the magnificent surroundings and is ranked in the top 30 in South Africa. The greens are all planted with a bent grass variety that stays “green” all year round. There are 84 well shaped and strategically placed bunkers all of which have white silica sand and are known to play consistently. The fairways are planted with Kikuyu which remains verdant year round because of a plentiful water supply. The fairways are wide and bordered by light rough but badly mis-directed shots into heavy rough, wetlands and water features will be punished.
The clubhouse is exceptional with the 19th hole being rated in the top five in the country. The views over what is probably the most beautiful golf course in South Africa are truly breathtaking. The clubhouse has all of the amenities one could wish for including a very well-stocked pro shop. A golfing holiday in South Africa would not be complete without a round at this superb venue.
