The Cogmanskloof Trail is a 12.1km hike that starts and finishes at The Old Meul (Mill). The hike takes approximately four to six hours and only goes to a height of plus or minus 500m unlike the Bloupunt Trail which climbs to 1000m.
The hike, like most hikes in Montagu has beautiful views, amazing rock formations and wild indigenous flowers as well as fynbos, which is the natural vegetation only found in a small area of the Western Cape.
The gate of the reserve open at 7 am and closes at 6 pm. The number of the office is (023)614 2471. No permit necessary, just sign book at start and end of hike.
How to get to the Montagu Mountain Reserve: Once in Montagu, turn left into Barry Street. Turn left into Meul Street/Mill Street. Turn right into Tanner Street. You will drive over a small river twice before you get to the nature reserve. No dogs please.
