In a thrilling merger of passion and responsibility, Busani Mthiyane, the newly appointed Animal Curator at Crocworld Conservation Centre on the KZN South Coast, brings his expertise to lead a team dedicated to the preservation of wildlife. With a background in Nature Conservation and ongoing studies in Environmental Management, Busani’s journey from Nkandla to Crocworld promises a fresh perspective.

His previous role at the National Zoological Garden in Tshwane, where he cared for various animals, prepared him for the leadership role at Crocworld. Busani’s commitment extends beyond managerial duties; he aspires to inspire visitors to actively participate in wildlife conservation through awareness programs.

As visitors explore Crocworld, they witness Busani in action during daily animal talks, crocodile feeds, and snake interactions. Behind the scenes, he manages animal husbandry, enclosure maintenance, safety compliance, and staff coordination. Crocworld Conservation Centre Manager, James Wittstock, expresses excitement about Busani’s appointment, anticipating positive contributions to ongoing projects, including the vulture and American alligator breeding program.

Crocworld Conservation Centre continues to be a hub of holiday excitement. The recent festive season witnessed an influx of visitors enjoying the captivating holiday program. Daily crocodile and bird feedings, talks, and snake demonstrations provided entertainment for families. A special highlight was the 123rd birthday celebration of Henry, Crocworld’s esteemed Nile crocodile. Visitors commemorated this milestone with free cupcakes and cherished moments with the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity.
