Curry’s Post is a hidden treasure of beautiful natural landscapes, cattle farms, dairy farms and forest plantations. It is situated at the heart of the famous Midlands Meander between the towns of Mooi River and Howick and not far from the city of Pietermaritzburg. The area is named after the Curry family which settled in the area in the 19th century and created a staging post and watering hole for travellers to the gold and diamond fields of the Transvaal and the Cape.
Curry’s Post forms an integral part of the Midlands Meander and there is no shortage of activities in the surrounding area. There are a number of golf courses nearby including the Howick Golf Club, Sakabula, Mooi River Golf Club and many in and around Pietermaritzburg. There are numerous trout and bass fishing farms, many nature reserves such as Umgeni, Karkloof, Midmar and Weenen, watersports at Midmar and Albert Falls Dam and of course the Midlands Meander with all of its attractions. For those who are interested in the history of the area, the Battlefields Route is not far away.
