This day trip will take you through the fertile Hoeko Valley and the majestic towering mountains that form the Seweweekspoort cutting. Take your camera and you will not be disappointed. The round day trip is 90km to Seweweekspoort and a further 50km return if you go to the Gamkaskloof Dam. It would be a good idea to pack a good picnic basket so you can just ramble for the day.
Start: At the intersection of the R62 and Suid Street in Ladismith, turn left and first right onto Church Street. Continue and turn left into North Street. This road will take you to the Hoeko Valley. Once you have passed through the valley, you will reach the R62 again. Turn away from Ladismith towards Calitzdorp and travel about 10km just past Zoar. Turn left onto the Seweweekspoort road (R323). After driving through the pass, at the T-junction, turn right to the Gamkaskloof Dam.
Total Distance: 140km.
