De Malle Meul in Philadelphia, the former home of the famous South African artist, Pieter van der Westhuizen, is now a stylish gallery dedicated to his work. Pieter developed an international reputation for his etchings, paintings and pastel works. The gallery is part of a beautiful complex that also hosts weddings, shows and events, conferences, Sunday buffet lunch and offers accommodation.
The gallery offers more than 200 original etchings to the public.Art exhibitions and workshops are also hosted at the gallery.

We truly want to make your wedding day heaven on earth. De Malle Meul Wedding Venue is at the heart of rural Philadelphia. This village is conveniently situated only 40 minutes’ drive from Cape Town and as little as 20 minutes from Blaauwberg and Durbanville.
The setting is a quilt of emerald green wheat fields and bright yellow canola in winter, wild flowers and fynbos in spring, and golden rolling hills in summer, straight out of a Pieter van der Westhuizen work of art.
Conferences: Our rustic themed conference hall and the Chapel in the main building are available from Tuesdays to Fridays for groups of 15 to 90 delegates. It is equipped with standard conferencing equipment and is fully-air-conditioned. Ample parking in a safe area is available. As a team we are experienced in planning functions and offer a reliable service.
Accommodation: De Malle Meul has two self-catering cottages on its grounds that look out onto the vineyard and garden. “Die Koringhuisie” sleeps two (one double bed) and “Die Wingerdhuisie” sleeps four (one double bed and two single beds). All rooms have en- suite bathrooms. Both cottages have a lounge / dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and a veranda.
Sunday Buffet: The Sunday buffet is available from 12h00 till 15h00. Hein and Benitha of “Two Food Fundies” see to it that the tables are laden with scrumptious traditional food, such as vetkoek and kaiings/ Curried Tripe and Chicken Pie – up to 7 meats to choose from/ sweet potato and roast potatoes/ dumplings and malva pudding. There is also a choice of fresh salads and vegetables. R180 per person and R90 for children under 12.
De Malle Meul is fully licensed. If you prefer to bring your own wine, corkage is charged at R30 per bottle. Help yourself at the cash bar. Credit Cards are welcome. Bookings are essential and can be done by contacting us.
