Paddagang Restaurant & Wine Shop is set in an authentic Cape Dutch building, the ideal setting to serve up the finest Cape Dutch and Cape Malay cooking – the origins of South African cuisine. Going since 1821, this restaurant offers a menu of mouth-watering dishes.
From a tantalisingly creamy smoorsnoek starter, served with homemade grape jam and freshly baked bread; Bobotie (spiced mince baked to perfection with a savoury custard topping) served with turmeric-infused rice and fresh vegetables, or the iconic Waterblommetjiebredie, a stew of lamb and asparagus-like indigenous water hawthorn to the fine wines from the region, you will not be disappointed.
The setting is impressive. Paddagang is set back on Tulbagh’s picturesque Church Street, where one finds no less than 28 national monuments. This is a popular spot for wedding receptions, a speciality of the restaurant.
So we offer you the good old memories of wonderful days gone by, with oupa and ouma, mom and dad sitting at the table for Sunday lunch … We promise you an unforgettable experience.
