Along the unspoiled shores of Plettenberg Bay, a large pod of dolphins made a spectacular and unexpected appearance—thankfully, Christy Strever was there to capture the magic.

Every so often, nature gifts us a moment so breathtaking it reminds us just how extraordinary our world can be. This was one of those moments. Christy Strever—a long-time friend of Good Things Guy and a gifted visual storyteller—shared a glimpse of something truly special: a pod of dolphins dancing through the waters of Plettenberg Bay.
Many of our readers will already know Christy’s name. She’s been behind some of our most memorable stories over the years—from those viral food selfies that caught Gordon Ramsay’s eye, to the powerful moment she shaved her head for a cancer awareness campaign. Whether she’s behind the lens or in front of it, Christy brings a rare mix of heart, humour, and honesty to everything she touches.

Now living in Plettenberg Bay, she continues to use her lens to reveal the quiet, wild beauty of coastal life. Her most recent posts—videos and stills of a massive pod of dolphins gliding, leaping, and playing in the surf—feel like something out of a dream.
“The first dolphins for me this season and I was lucky!” she wrote. “This is some of the best footage I’ve ever captured of dolphins. They’re so tricky to film because they move soooo fast! But these ones were super relaxed and just gliding along at the perfect pace—even though I was still in sports mode.”
She added with characteristic humility, “I’m still an amateur when it comes to videography, but man, I love it!!”
Amateur? Hardly. What Christy has captured goes beyond documentation—it’s visual poetry. And judging by the response online, it’s exactly the kind of serene beauty people have been craving.
“Unbelievable. What a great sighting,” one follower commented. Another shared, “That is awesome. Spent many, many years surfing all along our fantastic coastline—yet never witnessed such a beautiful moment. Thank you for sharing. Great photography.”
Clearly, Christy’s moment with the dolphins touched many hearts.
