This 8km hike along the Elands River, takes one through pristine fynbos landscape. After an initial steep climb, the route becomes easier following the Elands River. It swings away from the river at places, ascending quite high, and providing views over the valley. The trail then descends to Fisherman’s Cave with its inviting pool. The path continues for about 500m and ends at a sheer cliff face. Allow 3 hours, out and return.
This trail is also very popular in the winter as no rivers are crossed and trout angling is available.
The trail starts immediately after the Worcester exit of the Huguenot tunnel, on the right. There is a fenced parking area for permit holders. From the parking, the trail turns back towards the tunnel.
