Fishing at Langebaan and Saldanha, West CoastSaldanha bay is the largest natural bay in South Africa and the town of Saldanha has developed as one of the major centres of the fishing industry. The Saldanha Bay – Langebaan lagoon offers anglers a sublime angling opportunity on small boats within the bay and on the the lagoon. Likely catches here are various species of kob, white stumpnose, galjoen, hottentot, shad (elf) and garrick (leervis) and various species of shark, ray and and skate in summer.

Fishing is also conducted from harbour walls, close to the iron-ore jetty, rocky outcrops and protected beaches. Deep sea fishing is also available. Book a trip

Getting there: from Cape Town, take the R27 going north. After approximately 80km, turn off at the Langebaan turn off and follow the road intol the town. Fishing charters usually launch at the Mykonos waterfront just north of the town.
