The Komati Gorge Wildlife Reserve offers superb fly-fishing in the beautiful Komati River Gorge near Machadorp and Carolina.
Permits can be obtained at the Lodge reception and catch-and-realease fishing is permitted from dawn to dusk in both the Komati River and dams on the reserve. If you wish to keep a trout, there is a charge per fish, but otherwise there is no limit to how many you may catch.
The Komati River is clean and you can swim as well as catch good sized mountain trout.
Facilities include accommodation, a restaurant and pub with outstanding views and wedding, event and conferencing facilities
A multitude of other activities are also offered at the Komati Gorge Reserve and Lodge that will keep the entire family busy while you a silvery line and settle down to enjoy fly-fishing at its best.

Getting there: From Machadodorp take the R541 south, turning off to the right after 26km – follow the signs.
From Carolina take the R36 north-east, turning off to the right after 5km. Follow the signs for the Doornkop and then take a left at the sign for the Komati Gorge after a further 5km.
