Garden Route from Cape Town via Hermanus or Oudtshoorn

Montagu

After enjoying your stay in Cape Town, where you have been amazed at the stunning scenery, winelands, history and local hospitality, you may think you have seen the best of South Africa. Luckily, this is not the case – you still have one of the world’s top tourist experiences –  the Garden Route, to explore.

There are 2 route options for this trip. Here is some advice on how to decide which option to take.

If you have already taken the drive to Gansbaai or Hermanus from Cape Town, then take the red R62 Route to Oudtshoorn.

If it is between December and May, the pink N2 route will not be as attractive, as the crops are harvested and the rain has not yet started to fall, so once again do the red R62 route.

From May to December the pink N2 route is outstanding with the green wheat fields and yellow canola crops that turn the countryside into an oil painting.
