Exciting News! Get Ready to Make a Life-Changing Difference!
Step into a world where smiles are scarce, where the joy of laughter seems distant. Imagine children, innocent and full of dreams, unable to experience the simple delight of a smile. But together, we can change their lives forever!
Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels, the unstoppable force behind numerous successful community initiatives, is back with an electrifying new mission. And this time, we’re partnering with the incredible Smile Foundation to honor the legacy of the legendary Madiba!
Nelson Mandela himself, the beacon of hope and inspiration, was the driving force behind the Smile Foundation. With boundless compassion, he answered the call of a desperate mother, Thando, whose child was born with facial paralysis. Inspired by her story, Madiba rallied the support of businessman and philanthropist Marc Lubner, who orchestrated a life-changing surgery for Thando. It was from this extraordinary act of kindness that the Smile Foundation was born.
Fast forward 23 years and over 5,000 children have already experienced the transformative power of the Smile Foundation. In celebration of Mandela Day, Jacaranda FM and Good Morning Angels are joining forces to bring hope, happiness, and brand-new smiles to children born with facial abnormalities.
From July 17th to 21st, known affectionately as Smile Week, an exceptional team of surgeons, medical professionals, and hospital staff will dedicate their time, to performing these life-changing surgeries pro bono. But we need your support to cover the essential consumables and service costs, which average around R 25,000 per patient.
Good Morning Angels, with their indomitable spirit, aims to raise funds between July 12th and 18th, 2023, hoping to provide for over 30 Smile Week patients and even more if we surpass our goal!
To ignite the flames of this extraordinary fundraising event, Breakfast with Martin Bester will be broadcasting live from Dr. George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Ga’Rankuwa on Tuesday, July 18th. Join us in this electrifying atmosphere as we unite for a cause that will touch the lives of countless children.
One such child is 13-year-old Karabo, born with a cleft lip and palate. Beyond the challenges he faces in appearance, Karabo endures difficulties in speaking and eating. However, a life-altering operation to repair his cleft palate has been scheduled for next week, followed by the transformation of his lip. This surgery will not only improve his health and development but also grant him the power to smile—a gift beyond measure!
But the excitement doesn’t end there! Spar, in collaboration with the Spar Women’s Challenge Tshwane, will kickstart our campaign with a magnificent donation of R200,000. This generous contribution will provide corrective surgeries for eight children, including the remarkable Karabo. Together, we can make a profound impact on their lives.
Join us on this momentous occasion, a celebration of Mandela Day and the spirit of giving. Jacaranda FM calls upon all its extraordinary listeners to be part of this life-altering journey!
