Izak Rust, a retired professor and an experienced, registered tour guide, offers guided walks in the beautiful Franschhoek countryside and around the historic village.

Village and Valley

All guided walks start & end at the Dutch Reformed Church

Group size 1-12 persons

A two hour leisurely walk that takes in the historic Franschhoek village.

A two hour walk through part of the village and historic Huguenot farms Cabriere and Clos Cabriere.

A two hour walk through the village centre to see some 50 different and interesting indigenous and other trees.

The Vineyard Hike is about a four hour easy walk from Franschhoek to historic Rickety Bridge Estate and back along orchards, vineyards, rural roads & horse trails. Wine tasting and/or lunch at Rickety Bridge subject to prior reservation and for your own account.

Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve

Best time to walk is mornings. Group size 1-8 persons

The Cats Path Trail is a leisurely walk of approximately four hours along an 1819 scenic wagon trail that takes in the magnificent Cape fynbos flora. Walk starts and ends at the top of Reservoir Street.

The Vista Trail is about a three hour moderately easy nature hike, through Cape fynbos flora. Superb panoramic views of the valley and village. Starts & ends at the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve main gate, Franschhoek Pass. Transport to and from the MRNR main gate is for the account of the client.

DuToitskop Trail is a  5½ hour strenuous nature hike. Superb panoramic views of the valley and mountain. Cape fynbos flora. Starts and ends at the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve main gate, Franschhoek Pass. Transport to and from the MRNR main gate is for the account of the client.
