An unusual but truly special offering in Belfast is the unique one-off handcrafted knives created and sold at Heavin Forge, Belfast, Mpumalanga – ‘forged in the fires of Africa’
If you have a week you can learn to make your own knives at Heavin Forge under the direction of master blade-smiths Kevin and Heather Harvey, on either a 3 day or 5 day course.
There are a number of knives spanning many different styles and uses for sale, including some collector’s pieces made by other blade-smiths from around Africa, but they do not maintain a catalogue. Each piece or set is hand-crafted and unique.
Getting there: Heavin Forge is located in Belfast, Mpumalanga – an appropriate place – every fisherman worth his weight needs a superb filleting knife.
