In Memory of Dingo Dinkelman: A Tribute to a Wildlife Crusader

The wildlife community mourns the profound loss of Graham “Dingo” Dinkelman, who passed away at the age of 44, one month after suffering a tragic green mamba bite.

A passionate South African YouTuber, Dingo was renowned for his work in wildlife conservation and his deep connection to reptiles.

His wife, Kirsty Dinkelman, shared the heartbreaking news, explaining that Dingo had been placed in an induced coma following the snake bite he experienced at home in September. Tragically, an allergic reaction to the venom led to anaphylactic shock, which ultimately claimed his life.

“Dingo was not only known for his remarkable work with snakes and reptiles but also had an immense love for all creatures,” Kirsty reflected. “He had a special affinity for Africa’s majestic mammals—particularly elephants, rhinos, and lions—along with our beloved giraffe, Elliot. Yet, his deepest love was always reserved for his family, which fueled his purpose and passion.”

Dingo was an award-winning presenter on Discovery Channel and YouTube, hosting one of the fastest-growing channels in South Africa. He reached more than 3 million viewers a month, actively striving to create lasting connections between people and animals, hoping that this bond would help save them. As a devoted father of three young children—Taylor, 14, Maddy, 12, and Rex, 9—and husband to Kirsty, his enthusiasm for wildlife conservation was contagious, and the entire family dedicated themselves to the mission of conserving animals and protecting the planet.

Born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, Dingo was raised in a family where wildlife took center stage. Influenced at a young age by his father, who worked for the local Wildlife Authority, he developed a natural instinct for working with animals, especially those with more challenging personalities. This passion and enthusiasm for wildlife grew as he aged, leading him to dedicate every waking moment to promoting conservation and educating others about the natural world.

The Dinkelman family described Dingo as a captivating presence, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His infectious enthusiasm and warm sense of humor made every moment with him memorable, creating cherished memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dingo’s impact extended far beyond his family. With over 400,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, he became a leading voice in wildlife education, amassing an impressive average of three million monthly views and over 40 million views each year. His extraordinary spirit and dedication to conservation inspired countless individuals to engage with and protect the environment.

As we remember Dingo, we celebrate his unwavering commitment to wildlife conservation, the joy he brought to countless lives, and the legacy he leaves behind. His passion for the natural world will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations to protect and cherish the wildlife he loved so deeply
