Dancing and directing in pursuit of dreams: IT’S CLASSIC – A Dance Production directed by Shaela Heystek (19 years old)
This production showcases dance and entertainment of the eras and aesthetics that we all once flourished and prospered in.
You’ll find it filled with music, people, movement and soul that not only lives on today, but also has the ability to reach and speak to all audiences.
The show is a throwback of events and memories that flow together in an orchestration of a proud and exciting production called “IT’S CLASSIC”!
It is directed by Shaela Heystek, who matriculated in 2023. Shaela is a talented young dancer whose dream is to pursue Performing Arts. Not only has she taken a gap year to work and save money for her studies in Cape Town, but she also decided to take on the monumental task of putting this production together for the purpose of applying the proceeds towards her studies.
The show includes dancers from York High Dance Department, Dance 4 Joy Adult Ladies Ballet, Megan Wille School of Ballet and Melissa Page School of Dance. Guest performers are Anthony & Eunika (Ballroom Duet), Laila Davidson (Vocal Soloist), Mandi Kunana (Vocal Soloist), Lindsey Dickson (Saxophonist) and Simeï Vester (Violin Soloist).
We hope that this show will not only entertain audiences, but also inspire other young people to use their talents in the pursuit of their lifegoals.
Show dates are Friday, 20 September 2024 at 7pm and Saturday, 21 September 2024 at 3pm and 7pm and will take place at the George Arts Theatre. Ticket prices are R120 (adults) and R100 (children under 12 and pensioners). Contact Lizbé at 082 495 9589 for bookings.
