Game viewing and appreciation of the African bush can be done in luxurious style at the 13000ha Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit in the Valley of the Olifants, Limpopo Province.
The reserve is situated a few minute’s drive from Hoedspruit’s airport.
It is a Big 5 reserve where you can see lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo among many other animals during full-day game drives from early morning to early evening.
Walking safaris are also offered, at the ranger’s discretion and in safe areas, though these are more for learning about and appreciating the terrain and flora than big game viewing.
Other activities include:
Elephant interactions, elephant-back safaris and hot air ballooning over the reserve. There is a wellness centre on the reserve offering spa treatments and then, of course, there is game viewing from the comfort of your viewing deck in your choice of luxury lodgings – from a main communal lodge to a bush camp, tented lodges and river lodges.
Getting there: Take the R40 south from Hoedspruit. The distance to the gate is about 20km.
