Kenton-on-Sea, Sunshine Coast, Eastern Cape

Kenton-on-SeaKenton-on-Sea in the Eastern Cape has to be said to be one of the most perfect holiday destinations in South Africa. For one, it’s picture perfect, situated on a pristine piece of South African coastline between the Kariega and Bushmans rivers. And, to add to this, it’s proclaimed to be one of the best South African beach holiday destinations to visit at any time of the year – the climate is mild and temperate, all year round, giving you no excuse not to visit Kenton-on-Sea on your journey in the Eastern Cape.

Your holiday in Kenton-on-Sea can be as relaxed or eventful as you would like it to be – it’s fit for both. Enjoying this magical piece of coastline, putting your feet in some of the country’s best natural tidal pools and watching the abundant sea-life at play is one way to refresh your soul in this special place. Kenton-on-Sea is renowned for being one of the only places in the country to spot the Big 7 – game reserves with the Big 5 are ten minutes drive from here, and Southern Right whales and Great White sharks are often spotted off Kenton’s shores.

If you would like to enjoy everything that Kenton-on-Sea has to offer, you’re bound to be stuck here for a while. Hike along the beaches to unspoilt tidal bays and coastal caves, or inland along the banks of the rivers to enjoy the wonderful birdlife and a welcome bit of true Eastern Cape peace. Navigate the rivers inland (The Kariega is navigable for 16km inland, the Bushmans for 32km) by canoe and enjoy a peaceful game viewing experience as you spot animals on the reserve that lies between the two rivers. Horse riding on the beach and snorkeling in the untouched bays are also a must on any visit to Kenton-on-Sea.

Kenton-on-Sea is one of the most perfect family holiday destinations in South Africa and is not to be skipped on any journey in to the magnificent Eastern Cape province.
