Khaya Ndlovu Manor House – Paradise in Hoedspruit

A recent stopover in Hoedspruit on my way to the Kruger National Park turned out to be a truly amazing experience!

We were booked into the honeymoon suite at Khaya Ndlovu Manor House a few kilometres outside this bustling town, gateway to the true bushveld. A honeymoon night in luxury sounded like a great idea to my wife and I and we weren’t disappointed.

On arrival, we were welcomed by George, a charming man who couldn’t do enough for us. He went out of his way to park our Land Cruiser in their barn (where newborn rhinos had just been nurtured) so that we could plug in our car freezer.

The luxurious honeymoon suite far exceeded our expectations. We wished that we had been there many years ago on our real honeymoon! But never too late to have a repeat! The suite has everything one could wish for – an en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor shower, a king-size bed, air conditioning, and fridge, but most of all a warm ambiance and the promise of a romantic evening!

After we settled in we took a stroll through the luxuriant gardens surrounding the manor house with its magnificent trees and manicured lawns. But the best was yet to come – the deck with a beautiful infinity pool overlooking a waterhole and the bush as far as the eye could see to the mountains on the horizon.

Khaya Ndlovu sm9As we sat on the deck sipping our sundowners, kudu, giraffe, and warthog silently made their way to the waterhole. This is why we love the bushveld – the peace and tranquillity made our hectic business life become a distant memory! And we couldn’t wish for a more beautiful place to be.

Later, dinner was served at our own private table on the deck under the stars. The food was 5 Star and the service by Surprise, who has a great sense of humour to go with his name, was excellent.

Khaya Ndlovu sm10The 1400Ha Khaya Ndlovu Reserve is well known for its work protecting the endangered black rhino. A drive through the reserve and the adjacent BLAR Conservancy and Leadwood Big Game Estate will very likely reward you with sightings of wild dog, cheetah, hyena, and rhino.

Next time you visit Kruger Park, treat yourself to an amazing experience and stop off at Khaya Ndlovu. Hoedspruit is reputed to be the fastest-growing town in the country. It is perfectly located to begin your holiday in the bushveld and you cannot do better than staying at Khaya Ndlovu Manor House.
