Kleinplasie Open Air Museum

The Kleinplasie Open Air Museum is a living museum that lets you experience the life of the early farming communities from 1690 to 1900. See how these settlers made bread, candles tobacco and alcohol (known as witblits) in the traditional way. Visit the blacksmith at work or see coffee being made. These activities take place on Monday to Friday.

Each building demonstrates aspects of agricultural know how and keeps the architecture and industries alive.

Buildings and items to be viewed include Cartwright’s Shop, Town House, Roller-mill, General Dealer, Lime Kiln, Khoi-Khoi Huts, Tobacco Shed, Soap Kitchen, Water-mill, Horse Gear, Harness Room, Thong Curing, Dipping Kraal, Witblits Stills and Lye Pots.

Take the kids to Kleinplasie Reptile World – right next to the Kleinplasie Open Air Museum. See snakes, crocodiles, leguaans, tortoises and more.

There is also a tea room & restaurant, curio shop selling curios such as confectionery, gifts, witblits, etc. as well as a nursery.

The museum is situated on the R60 1 km outside Worcester, on the road to Robertson.
