ShowMe South Africa

The 2 day base camp Langberg Hiking Trail in the Eastern Free State offers 2 day routes – one along kranses and through steep kloofs, featuring interesting sandstone formations, indigenous forest, caves, rock pools and stunning views, and the other through farmland and wetlands – the latter offering great birding.

Base camp is luxurious by general hiking standards. The Horse Stables Camp on the Koefontein farm sleeps 20 people and is comfortably kitted out with bedding, a pub, a huge indoor fireplace and outside braai area.

The Langberg Trails are both easy and interesting and the high rainfall usually experienced in the area makes for lush surroundings with a variety of flora and small fauna. Combined with the comfy accommodations and a variety of other activities on offer in the Langberg, from abseiling to horse trails to caving, the Langberg Trail offers a great weekend break for all levels of experience and fitness.
