Lowestoffe Country Lodge is set against the backdrop of the magnificent Elandsberg Mountains with expansive grasslands, rocky ridges and a gently meandering river. This pristine setting, between Cathcart and Hogsback offers the ideal getaway for family holidays and weekends.
Situated on 5500 hectares of holistically managed land and comprising four adjoining farms, sheep and cattle form the backbone of the farming enterprise while the farm has been home to the Africa’s Sport Horse Stud since 1994.
The picturesque Klipplaat River traverses the farm for 18 km providing numerous scenic spots to enjoy a picnic or deep water pools from which to cast a line for Yellow fish.
The vast open spaces and diverse topography lends itself to outdoor activities, and among the many we specialize in fly fishing (Trout, Bass and Yellow fish), horse trail rides, mountain biking and hiking.
A moderate one way mountain bike trail of 26km takes you along a rugged gravel road and jeep track to Hogsback. From the farm house, head toward Cathcart and turn right after crossing first dam wall (2 km). In for a bit of a climb from here via 2 gates before dropping down a few km to the Klipplaat River and passing Rockford Lodge. The road now follows the river for a while before you turn right to climb past Coolin Trout Lodge and on to Hogsback.
