The Malieveld Mountain Biking Trail is one of the shorter trails in the Sabie area, traversing only a 10km circular route in the forested area around Sabie. There are some quite technical sections along the route, starting with a steep uphill and and then through some ups and downs between waterfalls. Although the route is short, it is not recommended for beginner or unfit riders.
Free access to the trail is reserved for guests of the Bananien Lodge, who operate the trail. Day visitors can obtain access to the trail by appointment with the lodge only.
The trail makes for the ideal morning or afternoon activity in the Sabie area, and being the tourist hotspot that it is, a weekend in Sabie at the Bananien Lodge combined with the adventure activites on offer would be one to be remembered!
Getting there: from Gauteng take the N4 going East into Mpumalanga. Continue along the N4 to Nelspruit. At Nelspruit, take the R37 going North to Sabie. At Sabie, take the R536 going East to Hazyview. Bananien Lodge is approximately 10km along this road.
