The Big 5 Manyeleti Private Game Reserve near Bushbuckridge in the Mpumalanga / Limpopo Lowveld is 20000ha reserve sharing borders with Kruger, Sabi Sabi and Timbavati.
Like other private game reserves in the Lowveld, Manyeleti has dropped the fences that separated it from its neighbouring reserves and Kruger and is now part of the Great Kruger National Park.
Manyeleti means ‘Place of the Stars’ in the local Shangaan language and, as the name implies, it offers a ‘far away from civilisation’ experience with clear night skies and starry nights broken only by the hum of cicadas and the occasional lion’s roar.
There are three safari lodges on the Manyeleti – a ‘family safari lodge’, a luxury lodge and a ‘Premier Lodge’ offering exclusive luxury accommodations and safaris. There is also wellness spa.
Getting there: Take the R40 north from Bushbuckridge and follow the signs for Manyeleti. Total travelling time is 1 and half hours.
