Mckinley’s hand-made chocolates are the edible art creations of Alaskan-born chocolatier and candy-maker Calen Thomas. The Lindt- trained ‘chocolate artiste’ sells hand-crafted truffles, pralines, ganache and other chocolates filled with all sorts of yummies, including local Ficksburg cherries, from his now famous shop in popular Clarens in the Eastern Free State.
Flavour combinations, designs and ingredients are not only inspired by the beauty of Clarens and the surrounding countryside, but by the artistic finery and nature that characterises the village. The shop is ‘old-world’ and offers a browsing experience that leaves the harshness and angles of the modern world far behind.
Mckinley’s Ganache Chocolates are unique and almost too beautiful to eat, and all chocolates are made with the highest quality Swiss and Belgian chocolate.
There are many other hand-made goodies on offer – from chocolate covered Turkish Delight to hand-made highest quality Chocolate Bars to nougats and fruit gums.
