The privately owned MoyaPark Bird Reserve in Bathhurst is the life-work of local property owners who have spent almost 20 years buying up land to create the reserve. Today, over 300 native bird species can be seen in the 15ha park.
The park includes extensive areas of indigenous forest, complete with natural walkways, and a dam fro waterbirds. There are also hand-built African cottages on the reserve and a communal Boma for overnight visitors.
Some of the strikingly beautiful bird species that can be seen along the coastal forested areas of the Eastern Cape Sunshine Coast include the Knysna Loerie, Sunbirds and the Malachite Kingfisher.
Getting there: MoyaPark Bird Reserve is situated in Bathhurst on the R67 from Port Alfred.
