Mtwalume’s main feature is the Mtwalume River, which forms a beautiful lagoon where it enters the sea, named by the Zulu’s because of the tall upright Mtwalume trees growing on the river bank.  The river is approximately 85km long, making this exquisite area ideal for a variety of water sports such as fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, wind and board surfing, or simply relax and soak up the African sun while appreciating the lively wild life and vibrant birds along the banks.  The Mtwalume Falls which is just a little further up along the river, provides a relaxing hike and spectacular views.
