Muisbosskerm Seafood Restaurant, Lamberts Bay

Voted one of the “Top Ten Sea Views to Dine For” by National Geographic, Muisbosskerm is the first and Original Open Air Restaurant in South Africa. Named after a shelter built by the native herdsmen from the Muisbos bush, this restaurant is the brainchild of Edward & Elmien Turner, who will treat you to some of the West Coast’s most sought after seafood dishes, always fresh from the sea.

Muisbosskerm, Lamberts BayThe crayfish and different kinds of fish are baked, smoked or grilled and unusual, traditional South African dishes like “waterblommetjie” and “hotnotskool bredie” and the ever fresh homemade potato yeast bread, straight from the clay oven, with butter and the region’s famous Hanepootkorrelkonfyt” are all on the menu.

“Well worth the dinner ticket as the food – seafood, kreef, roasts and potjies – is top, top notch.

The restaurant is not open every day, therefore it is extremely important to make a reservation first. Meals are only prepared once 15 people or more have booked, as meals are not “a la carte”.

Winter: Lunch: 12:30 for 13:00: Dinner: 18:30 for 19:00: Summer: Lunch: 12:30 for 13:00: Dinner: 18:30 for 19:00. Breakfast is on request for groups of more than 20 people.
