Nederburg Wine Estate was established in the Paarl Valley in 1791 by German immigrant Phillipus Wolvaart. After passing through a number of hands Johan Graue purchased the farm in 1937. His forward thinking approach and new techniques has established Nederburg as the leading producer of quality wines in South Africa.
The winemaker, Günther Brözel, is the only South African to have won the International Wine and Spirits Competition Winemaker of the Year award. Nederburg wines have won more awards than any other in South Africa.
The magnificent thatch-roofed manor house, completed in 1800 is now a national monument and is an exceptional example of Cape Dutch architecture. A number of music and other events take place at Nederburg year round.
