Newton Johnson Wine Estate is situated about an hour and a half from Cape Town in the wine-growing Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near the seaside town of Hermanus, famous for some of the best land based whale watching in the world.
The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley was discovered to be an excellent area for wine growing in the 1980’s and today some of the best wines in South Africa are produced here.
The Newton Johnson Winery has a strong commitment to producing wines in as natural a way as possible. They believe in producing wines with a sense of “place”. Grapes are hand-picked and no mechanical pumping is used. No chemical additives or yeasts are used and soft extraction by hand ensures that the wines stay true to the natural flavours from the vineyard.
Situated amongst the fynbos and abundant birdlife high against the Galpin Peak mountain with breathtaking vistas of the Hemel-en Aarde Valley and the Atlantic Ocean is a little gem called Heaven Restaurant. The style is distinctively Brasserie with a twist of unique flavours to give the menu a very distinctive and decadent appeal. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch and dinner can be arranged for parties of 15 or more.
