Oppenheimer Park Golf Club, Welkom, Free State

Oppenheimer Park Golf Club, Welkom, Free StateOppenheimer Park Golf Club, founded in 1949, is situated about 7 Km from the mining town of Welkom in the Free State, South Africa.

The course was designed by the renowned golf course architect, Bob Grimsdell and is a challenge for all golfers. Water hazards are a major feature on six of the 18 holes. A large dam, adjacent to the course is inhabited by thousands of flamingos and the course has a tranquil, natural character.

The 511 m 9th hole will test most golfers and the halfway house will be a welcome respite before tackling the back nine. The 10th is a dogleg with trees that must be avoided before approaching the green which is tucked away behind more trees and protected by bunkers, bushes and shrubs. The course is known for its excruciating rough so take great care to stay on the fairways.

Visitors are welcome.
