The Cluver family were the founding fathers of the Elgin wine ward. Established in 1896, as an apple farm, the family went on to plant the first commercial vineyards and established the first wine cellar in the Elgin Valley.
De Rust Estate, home of Paul Cluver Wines, is located in the cool-climate Elgin Valley and forms part of a world heritage site called The Kogelberg Biosphere.
Scientific research and constant refinement have seen the excellent matching of varietals and terroirs. Through knowledge, passion and trial, the most suited winemaking methods have been researched and applied. The outcome is an elegant range of aromatic whites, including the rise of Riesling and the elegant Pinot Noir that consistently score well locally and internationally.
