Pennington, Umdoni Coast, KwaZulu Natal

Pennington, is a small, picturesque coastal village on the Umdoni coast of KwaZulu-Natal, and is considered the little jewel of the South Coast.

Pennington, offers visitors and residents long, lazy days on tranquil beaches, surrounded by some of the finest remaining coastal forests and gifted with an abundance of wild flora and fauna.

Pennington, boasts warm waters for swimming and the safe tidal pools make for interesting discoveries. Snorkelers have some magnificent sites at Kelso and Umdoni Point has a rich blend of fish species.

There are plenty of angling opportunities, and this area offers, a large number of trophy Barracuda, Garrick, Shark and Salmon. Catch a “big one” either off the rocks, on the surf (popular catches are Shad, Sharks, Grunter, and Kingfish) or deep-sea.  The ‘Couta Classic’ is held annually in Pennington over the Easter weekend, attracting hundreds of fisherman, from all over the country to participate in this fishing competition.

Other exciting activities in Pennington include: scuba diving, horse rides on the beach, bird watching, great offshore wind-surfing, jet skiing and paragliding in Bazley Beach.  Pennington offers two fantastic Golf courses, Umdoni Golf course and Selborne Park, where game and bird watching comes complete with a round of golf.

Umdoni Park, offers wonderful walking trails and the Komba Bird Sanctuary and Nkumbane Dam.

Pennington is a truly idyllic destination, perfect for unwinding and relaxing.
