Port Elizabeth Golf Course is one of the oldest in South Africa having been founded in 1890. Recent upgrades have turned it into a top quality parkland course lined with mature trees and natural shrubbery and with water hazards on three of the holes. A number of doglegs on the fairways and the bent grass greens present some very interesting challenges.
The par five 8th and the par three 17th are the signature holes while the par four 4th is regarded as the toughest hole on the course at 394 m in length. The club hosted the South African Amateur Championship in 1990.
The club is known for its very active social life – the club house has no less than five bars and the Friday night buffet is very popular amongst the 1600 members
