Bring your favourite pictures to life with a few basic DIY skills and a touch of creativity.
Decorating with pictures is like creating art. Think of each blank wall as a canvas. Even smaller wall sections can be made into unique features with very little effort.
Double Feature
If you have mainly old and mismatched frames, give them a quick lick of paint in a colour that works well with the scheme of the room. Fill them with the kids’ art and group the frames together as the focal point. Here we used a stunning wall decal to add interest and complete the look.
Think Outside the Frame
These days photos can be printed onto, well, just about anything! Think mugs, puzzles, bags and more… Have your children’s smiling faces printed onto a stunning bag, or give the gift of a shopping bag to a special friend with a photo of you both on it. Make an impact by having black and white images transferred onto inexpensive scatter cushions for the living room.
Be Brave, Be Bold
Use markers to sketch out frames in a variety of sizes, and simply add your favourite snaps. Include kids’ art and 3D sculptures in your display too!
Word of Art
Choose a few meaningful words and write or paint them on canvases. Lean the canvases on a mantle or hang them along a wall. Get the kids to write their names or a short poem in coloured pens or paint for a more personal display.
