Punda Maria Rest Camp, Kruger National Park

An elephant grazes on a mopane bush near Punda Maria rest camp, Kruger National ParkPunda Maria Rest camp is the most popular rest camp in the northern section of the Kruger National Park. The camp is considered to be the gateway to this uniquely beautiful section of the park. The camp is a popular starting point for travelers traveling north-to-south in the park, and end point for those who have traversed the park south-to-north.

The landscape here is dominated by the starkly beautiful ‘mopaneveld’ or mopane bush. The northern section of the park sees less visitors than the southern and central sections, making it a dream bushveld destination for those wanting to truly get away from it all. Punda Maria is one of the best places in the northern Kruger to experience the freedom of this unspoiled part of the true African bush.

From the camp itself, visitors can enjoy guided game, birding and archaeological walks. These are great activities for the whole family to take part in, as there’s lots of fascinating things to learn about this precious part of the world. Game drives around Punda Maria are also renowned for great game and bird viewing. Bookings and info
